Looking at the tag line under the header I am reminded of the Bible verse, in the old King James version, Here we have no continuing city. There has been a lot of movement over the years but I am now settled in Kirkby Stephen, having lost Hilda (after years of Lewy Body Dementia) back in January. This is the old county of my maternal ancestors, Westmorland, and I have no great aspiration toward further moves, although one can never tell what the future holds.

At present these are little used apart from Facebook, but I'll be back.
Latest Personal Update
Having for several decades been actively involved in a variety of professional and charitable organisations, both national and international, secular and spiritual, 2013 was a year of change. Passing the age of 70, after several protracted periods of poor health over the previous twenty years, and following further serious warnings about health and overwork, it was time to withdraw to more local roles.
This had already happened to some extent during a period of severely poor health in 2007, but a further withdrawal was needed.
For four years my chief involvements (apart from serving as carer for my wife, Hilda, and running a few web sites which hopefully might grow eventually into a viable small online business) were as an elder in a local church along with a preaching and Bible teaching ministry around Cumbria and neighbouring counties (chiefly in Baptist, Christian Brethren and independent churches).
Even that had to be reduced as Hilda's condition (Lewy Body Dementia) deteriorated, especially during the final year of her life, and I'm grateful to those who willingly allowed me to withdraw from or reduce commitments already entered into.
Now, however, after spending six months gradually recovering from "carer-exhaustion", I'm back in action within Cumbria - although (August 2017) not yet further afield. The recovery process continues.
